the building:
The site at the corner of Filterstraße and Papenstraße was the residence of the city executioner. The complex, which has retained its medieval structure despite later alterations, consists of two parts: the two-storey corner building, first mentioned in a document of 1289, was the living quarters and workplace of the executioner. The tower house attached to the residential building in 1412 with its north-facing blind gable was apparently a prison. The city executioners lived and worked here until 1842.The house has appartments and is privately owned.
