from the 12th century onwards- the chapel survives and is
the oldest building in Frankfort. Complex includes the Rententurm (15th cent.), the corner tower, and the "Palas" of the Stauffer Emperors, as well as the German Baroque Bernusbau (1715-17), the neo-Romantic Bernitzbau (1842-3) and the 1970s addition. It was partially rebuilt after bombing. |

Its order was it to acquire "suitable articles from the entire area of the culture and Kunstaltertuemer with special consideration of the city Frankfurt/Main and their surroundings and to make it usable by scientific research". | |
